American auto giant General Motors is to locate its second plant in India in Maharashtra. The company is to sign an MOU with the Maharashtra Government soon. The plant is believed to be at the Talegaon Industrial Estate and MIDC has reserved a 300 acre site for GM. The location choice is based on the availability of skilled workforce in the Pune area and the existence of other auto and auto ancillary facilities in the region.

Microsoft to set up software development center in Pune

Microsoft plans to invest $150 million to set up a software development center in Pune according to the IT secretary of Maharashtra. This would be the first significant investment in the city by a major global IT company. TCS is also planning a software development center close to Hinjewadi IT Park at an investment of Rs 500 crore.

Real estate industry seeks reforms in Maharashtra

The Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry and the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) are organising a one day conference "Advantage Maharashtra", on July 31, 2006 in Mumbai. Real estate industry spokespersons and industry experts will make presentations on attracting investments to the state, required reforms and other industry developments.  The conference will be attended by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra amongst other participants.

Cabinet approves transfer of land for improvement of Nagpur - Mumbai road

New Delhi, June 22, 2006 : The Union Cabinet today approved  the transfer of 3.83 acres of defence land near Central Ammunition Depot (CAD), Pulgaon at Mouza Gunijkheda costing Rs. 6,14,575 to Maharastra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) Ltd., a State Government Undertaking.   It will be utilized for improvement of Nagpur-Wadha-Pulgaon-Aurangabad-Mumbai road to the level of a National Highway in exchange for equal value land measuring approximately 34.66 acres costing Rs. 6,17,320 in village Bachharajpur, contiguous to CAD, Pulgaon.
