Construction work to start on Rohtang Tunnel | INRnews

GMR Energy’s Bajoli Holi power project takes off | INRnews

Shimla, India, August 27, 2007: In a significant step to boost the state’s power generation capacity, the Himachal Pradesh government has awarded the 180 MW Bajoli Holi project to GMR Energy.  Mr. B.V.N. Rao, Managing Director, GMR Energy, today handed over the cheque as ‘Upfront Premium Payment’ of the Holi Bajoli Hydro-power project to the Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh. The step marks an important milestone in the development of this project which will generate 180 MW of power.

Himachal Pradesh govt rewards illegal construction with regularisation | INRnews

Shimla, November 14, 2006 : The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet in its meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Shri Virbhadra Singh, Chief Minister, approved a new policy to regularise illegal buildings, including those built without plan approvals, illegal buildings up to 5-storeys, and residential buildings with "convenient shops" on any of the 5 floors. Such a retrograde decision can only be seen to be government not only condoning illegal construction but in fact now rewarding violators via regularisation.

American billionaire Alfred Ford's $300 million Himalayan ski village near Manali is likely to get cabinet approval according to news reports. The project was earlier cleared by the State Infrastructure Development Board.
