Construction work to start on Rohtang Tunnel | INRnews

Shimla, India, January 21, 2008 - Construction work of 9 KMs. long Rohtang Tunnel below Rohtang Pass was likely to start by May, 2008. This was revealed by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, on receiving a communication from Shri M.M.Pallam Raju, Union Minister of State for Defence here today.

Himachal Pradesh highways project to make ride to Simla easy | INRnews

New Delhi, India, September 01, 2007 - The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed the Concession Agreement for 4/6-laning of Zirakpur-Parwanoo Section of NH-22 including Pinjore - Kalka - Parwanoo Bypass, in the States of Punjab (2 km), Haryana (21 km) and Himachal Pradesh (6 km) on Build Operate & Transfer (BOT) basis under National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase III.

GMR Energy’s Bajoli Holi power project takes off | INRnews

Shimla, India, August 27, 2007: In a significant step to boost the state’s power generation capacity, the Himachal Pradesh government has awarded the 180 MW Bajoli Holi project to GMR Energy.  Mr. B.V.N. Rao, Managing Director, GMR Energy, today handed over the cheque as ‘Upfront Premium Payment’ of the Holi Bajoli Hydro-power project to the Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh. The step marks an important milestone in the development of this project which will generate 180 MW of power.

Himachal Pradesh govt rewards illegal construction with regularisation | INRnews

Shimla, November 14, 2006 : The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet in its meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Shri Virbhadra Singh, Chief Minister, approved a new policy to regularise illegal buildings, including those built without plan approvals, illegal buildings up to 5-storeys, and residential buildings with "convenient shops" on any of the 5 floors. Such a retrograde decision can only be seen to be government not only condoning illegal construction but in fact now rewarding violators via regularisation.

Himalayan Ski Village planned near Manali in Himachal Pradesh

American billionaire Alfred Ford's $300 million Himalayan ski village near Manali is likely to get cabinet approval according to news reports. The project was earlier cleared by the State Infrastructure Development Board.
