Chandigarh Housing Board to construct 13,000 units | INRnews

Chandigarh, India, January 22, 2008 - The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) is to construct around 13,000 housing units under different categories in the city.

CHB has started construction of 160 houses in Sector-26 East (Bapu Dham) for low-income households. Over 8,000 houses are to come up each in Dhanas and Maloya-I.

2,260 houses are to come up on 42 acres in Sector 63 under a general housing scheme. 4,700 houses are planned on 90 acres of land in Sectors 53, 54 and 55. CHB is also planning a 2,400 house development on 41 acres of land in Hallomajra village.

The process of land acquisition for 167 acres of land by the UT Administration is underway. CHB plans to use environmentally friendly concepts such as rainwater harvesting, water recycling, and energy efficient lighting in these new developments.
