Proposal to regularise Sainik Farms in Delhi | INRnews

New Delhi, November 30, 2006 : The Union Cabinet has directed, while considering the proposal for regularization of unauthorized colonies in Delhi, that the department of Urban Development may bring up a proposal examining the options for deterrent penalties for the different violations in case it is decided to consider the regularization of Sainik Farm or other similar colonies. The Minister of State for Urban Development Shri Ajay Maken stated this in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today.

He said that a Committee of Experts under the Chairmanship of Shri K.K. Mathur has been set up in July this year to inter alia assess the extent of unauthorized development in the form of ‘farm houses’ and 'unauthorized colonies inhabited by affluent sections' of the society; to examine the desirability as well as feasibility of regularizing such unauthorized development and if so, to recommend broad principles governing the terms and conditions and guidelines for regularization of such areas.

The Committee has been requested to submit its recommendations by 31.12.2006, the minister added.
