New five-star hotel in Gurgaon planned by Taj Hotels | INRnews

New Delhi, November 16, 2006 : The Taj Group of Hotels is planning a 200-room hotel on 7 acres of land in Gurgaon. The total investment for the project is expected to be above Rs.150 crores.

The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) recently auctioned a 2.16 acre hotel site in Sector-44 for Rs.138 crores. A total of 32 firms participated in the auction with the eventual winner being H.B. Estate Developer Ltd.

Gurgaon has only two five-star hotels, the Bristol and Trident Hilton. With its increasing status as a corporate hub, greater supply is required in Gurgaon and the proposed Taj hotel would be a welcome addition to the local scene. Other players planning hotels in Gurgaon include Intercontinental and also the Starwood Hotels & Resorts. Starwood reportedly plans to set up two  premium Westin hotels in Gurgaon, one in February next year and another in 2008.
