New Delhi, November 02, 2006 - The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for undertaking construction of 1000 km of expressways under Phase VI with full access control and on new alignments along the routes at a cost of Rs.16,680 crore (Rs.9,000 crore from private sector and the balance amount of Rs.7,680 crore as viability gap funding, cost of land acquisition, utility shifting, consultancy etc. to be met by the Government).

The expressways would be built through Public Private Partnership on Build, Operate and Transfer basis following Design, Build, Finance and Operate pattern under National Highways Development Project Phase VI.

The entire project is likely to be completed by December 2015.
