Road improvement works in Assam approved

New Delhi, October 09, 2006 : The Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Thiru T. R. Baalu has approved in-principle road improvement works in Assam to the tune of Rs.111.81 crore. The funds will be used to strengthen and Widen several NH stretches in the State of Assam under Phase ‘A’ of Special Accelerated Road Development Programme – North East (SARDP-NE).

The approval has been granted for the following works under SARDP-NE in Assam:-

(i) An amount of Rs.22.80 crore has been approved for the work of construction to 2 lane with 1.5 m wide full depth shoulders from 0.00 to 10.00 of NH 152 in Assam.

(ii) An amount of Rs. 21.19 crore has also been approved for the work of construction of 2-lane road with 1.5 m width full depth shoulders from km 10.00 to 20.00 of NH 152 in Assam.

(iii) An amount of Rs.22.18 crore has been approved for the work of construction of 2 lane with 1.5 m wide full depth shoulders from km 20.000 to 29.200 of NH-152 in Assam.

(iv) An amount of Rs. 24.08 crore has been approved for the work of widening and strengthening of existing single lane road to 2 lane with 1.5m with full depth paved shoulders from km 0.00 to 12.00 of NH 153 in Assam.

(v) An amount of Rs.21.56 crore has been approved for the work of widening and Strengthening of existing single lane road to 2 lane with 1.5 m wide full depth shoulders from km 13.00 to km 23.700 of NH 153 in Assam.
