New western zone in Ahmedabad soon | INRNews

Ahmedabad, October 02, 2006: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has announced that a new western zone would be created after the merger of new areas with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. The new zonal office would be located at the old Bodakdev nagarpalika office.

Under this new zone, nine municipal wards would be created and elections to these wards would be held in early 2007. Apart from nine wards in the western areas, three new wards would also be created in the eastern side. Several areas have been merged with AMC, increasing its size from 190.84 sq km to 449.34 sq km.

The nine new wards to be created are Kadi, Ranip, Chandlodia, Ghatlodia, Thaltej, Bodakdev, Jodhpur, Vejalpur and Sarkhej in the western side while Lambha, Vastral and New Naroda wards would be created in eastern areas. The Kadi ward would include villages like Kadi, Tragad, Jagatpur, Chharodi, Chenpur, Oganaj and Gota. Chandlodia would have Chandlodia and Nirnaynagar and Ghatlodia will be exclusively for Ghatlodia area.

Thaltej ward would have Sola, Bhadaj, Shilaj, Hebatpur and Thaltej, while Bodakdev ward would include Memnagar, Ambali and Bodakdev. Jodhpur and Vejalpur wards will be for the areas respectively.
