Road improvement works sanctioned in 6 states

New Delhi, September 15, 2006 :  The Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Thiru T.R. Baalu has approved road improvement works in Gujarat, Chattisgarh, West Bengal, Punjab, Harayana and Maharashtra.

The approval has been granted for the following works on NHs in these States:

- A sum of Rs. 128 crore has been sanctioned for 47 Road Improvement works in the State of Maharashtra at various Highways stretches in different parts of the state.

- A sum of Rs. 621.08 Lakh has been sanctioned for strengthening of km 283/200 to 305/200 of NH-8E (Extn.) Dwarka-Porbandar-Somnath Section in Gujarat.

- An amount of Rs. 486.80 lakh has been approved for Strengthening of km.76.00 to km.92.00 of NH-64 on Patiala-Sangrur-Bhatinda road in Punjab.

- An amount of Rs. 320.98 lakhs has been approved for widening to two lane with paved shoulders in km. 257.00 to km. 258.500 and km. 266.025 to 269.215 of NH-71 in Harayana.

- Thiru Baalu has also approved a sum of Rs. 217.41 lakh for the work of Improvement of Riding Quality in Km 810 to km 816 of NH-31 in West Bengal.

Beside the above works, Thiru Baalu has also approved an amount of Rs. 8.89 lakh for the work of Engagement of Consultant for feasibility study/detail engineering regarding by-pass at Baghbhara town on NH-217 in Chattisgarh.
