Permit FDI in Indian retail: Sushil Ansal
Mumbai: 21st September, 2006: Mr. Sushil Ansal, Chairman, FICCI Housing and Public Works Committee drew Government’s attention towards the need to fully permit FDI in retail to ensure large multi brand chains like Walmart, Carefour to open their outlets in India. Mr. Ansal was speaking at the FICCI - International Real Estate Summit 2006.
He further urged for unlocking of the unutilised land lying with railways, airport authorities, port trusts and other government agencies to be given out to private sector for commercial exploitation; other airports in the country need to be quickly privatised and that some States should formalize their policies for involving private sector; computerization of land revenue records and the need to allow foreign investors to tap capital market pre-IPO.
