Mumbai - Buy prime office space on the internet
It now looks like you can also buy space in central Mumbai - about one lakh sq.ft of it - on the internet. While it is not clear if it would be from e-bay, the word is out that HSBC India is considering selling their office property in Worli on the Internet. Just to keep the sale more transparent.
The sale of the one-lakh sq.ft building will be through property consultants, CB richard Ellis. The multinational bank considered developing the property as a residential or a hotel complex and was reportedly examining bids by Arheja Corp and Oberoi Constructions.
The property is worth Rs.150 to Rs.160 crores, putting the cost per sq.foot at Rs.20,000. It housed the bank's call centre and BPO business. 1200 employees will now move to new premises in Malad.
As for the valuable piece of real estate, the bank hopes to sell and count the cash by early 2007.
