Land inventory now available for Chandigarh

A move that should ideally be followed in all metros and leading Indian cities, to prepare a land inventory, has been undertaken successfully in Chandigarh.

The Union Territory now has a clear blueprint of all available land in terms of residential plots, industrial areas and other reserved areas. The estate office will now have precise knowledge of the availability of land for future infrastructure development.

According to the inventory, there are 413 residential and 125 industrial vacant plots left with the administration. The maximum number of vacant residential plots – 180 - are in Sector 40. Sectors 37 and 38 have 51 vacant plots each. Sector 20 has 43 vacant residential plots.

Among the 125 vacant industrial plots, 63 are in the Industrial Area Phase 1 and 61 in Phase II. The administration plans to auction, allot or reserve these plots for projects. 55 acres spread over Sectors 1 to 30 have already been reserved for future plans. The maximum - 13.16 acres - is in Sector 17.
