Sahara townships in Lucknow today, across India tomorrow

Meet Sahara Infrastructure and Housing (SIH). The Lucknow-based company has projects dotting the landscape of the UP capital and will sometime in the future reach the rest of the country as well. If the company's plans are to be believed India will be one big Sahara home.

SIH entered the real estate market with its first project, Sahara Shopping Centre. It has now successfully developed townships in Lucknow with Sahara Estate being its flagship project. This has 1,900 homes of which 70-80% have been already acquired. At present, 425 premium apartments are under construction in another project, Sahara Grace. Its most recent project is Sahara Ganj, a five-floor shopping mall costing Rs.100 crores to build, spread over 425,000 sq.ft.

However, the company's most ambitious project is Sahara City Homes - a chain of high-quality residential townships in 217 Indian cities in 21 states and 2 union territories.  The first phase of the mega project will be across 102 cities including Lucknow, Guwahati, Patna and Bangalore. The second phase will see the project steam into another 115 cities. The company is reported to have picked up 20,000 acres of land for this project.

Sahara City Homes in Lucknow will spread over 200 acres on land acquired near the Sitapur-Hardoi bypass, close to the Indian Institute of Management
