About DDA
The Delhi Development Authority was created in 1957 under the provisions of the Delhi Development Act "to promote and secure the development of Delhi". DDA has played a vital role in the orderly-yet-rapid development of Delhi.
Houses were constructed by DDA as per the requirement and purchasing capacity of different strata of the society. Schemes for various categories of flats were announced from time to time through advertisements in national newspapers. Till August 2005, 41 separate housing registration schemes have been announced.
A total of 352829 allotments of flats (which includes re-allotment of surrendered / cancelled flats) have been made till August 2005. These comprised about 50% flats allotted to economically weaker sections and low-income groups. Most of the allotted flats have been provided with essential services like, electricity, water and sewage disposal besides other infrastructural facilities required to make them habitable. A total of 13586 registrants are awaiting allotments. These include 2488 registrants of the Janata Housing Scheme - 1996, 8327 registrants of the New Pattern Housing Scheme - 1979 and the rest 2771 registrants under the Ambedkar Awas Yojana - 1989.
