Bangalore township projects moving slowly

With a view to decongesting Bangalore city, the BMRDA had announced three months ago a project to develop five integrated townships on the outskirts of Bangalore. The townships at Bidadi, Ramanagar, Sathanur, Solur and Nandagudi were to come up on 60,000 acres of land at a cost of over Rs. 20,000 crore.

There has not been much progress since the announcement, with BMRDA still awaiting approval from the state government. No one is clear on the specific areas identified and how long the land acquisition process would take. In the meantime Bangaloreans will have to cope with an increasingly congested city.

Details of the proposed townships are available on BMRDAs website, linked below.

  1. Bidadi Township, Ramanagar Taluk, planned on 9,684 acres
  2. Ramanagar Township, planned on 4,013 acres
  3. Sathanur Township, Kanakapura Taluk, planned on 16,232 acres
  4. Solur Township, Magadi Taluk, planned on 12,525 acres
  5. Nandagudi Township, Hosakote Taluk, planned on18,507 acres

Real estate investors should keep an eye out for further developments on the township projects. Formalisation of the project would have an impact on real estate prices in adjoining areas.
