Bangalore property construction to cost more

The State Government plans to impose a 1% cess on building construction cost where the cost is above Rs. 1 million.

The levy will go to the Welfare Board for Construction workers and will be used for safety, health and old-age pension for workers.

The government has issued draft rules and plans to implement the cess by November 1. Implementation of these rules is expected to benefit over 1.4 million workers in the state.
