Flagship Bahrain building rises to full height | INRnews
Steel work has now been completed on the development's two 50-storey towers and their 60-metre spires to leave the building standing at 240 metres. Global real estate adviser DTZ is the leasing and managing agent for BWTC, which includes the twin commercial towers, a luxury, high-end mall and a new multi-storey car park.
The spires, which were manufactured off-site in Bahrain, were installed from the 44th floor of the buildings' towers, under the supervision of expert engineers and a crane operator. The next stage involves the construction of an external glass and steel framework on top of the skeleton structure.
Upon completion, fully-integrated SMART technology will provide BWTC tenants with enhanced efficiency and productivity, and three turbines will enable the towers to be the first of their kind to use wind energy to provide approximately 11–15% of tenants' electricity needs.
Claire Hughes, associate director for DTZ in Bahrain comments: "The BWTC is not only Bahrain's first intelligent development, but we have also now become among the tallest towers in the kingdom. We are delighted with the progress being made on the project.
"The completion of the spires ensures that the development of the BWTC progresses steadily towards completion as well as further increasing the towers' visibility across Bahrain. We are also very much looking forward to the installation of the turbine bridges, which will begin in around a month's time."
